Straying Away From Hiking but Keeping Near the River

I am changing up my post this week but will be back to hiking next week with photos from Mohawk Mountain and the Lemon Squeeze.
In looking for photos for my blog I came across pictures from Hurricane Sandy, a.k.a. ‘Frankenstorm’, that hit the Eastern Coast of the United States on October 29th 2013. I live within walking distance to the Hudson River and traveled down to the Newburgh Waterfront several times during the storm. The 'Waterfront' is about an hour up river from New York City.  My husband and I saw the river rise as the night went on. During high tide you could see the water rising at a tremendous speed.
In the photos below keep an eye on the fence located near the river.
The rise of the river in these photos took about 2 hours. At around 11pm The Waterfront was closed to visitors.

During a normal visit to The Waterfront the river is usually located about 10 feet below the fence.

 There is still a fence!

Look close there still is a little bit of a fence!!

This is a restroom facility.
